Engineering & Testing

Passenger protection

A high level of safety for vehicle occupants, a reduction in the degree of injury in the event of an emergency and the lowest possible forces acting in the event of a crash – these are all expectations of occupant protection that are constantly growing. In addition, there are increasingly strict legal national and international requirements (UN-ECE, FMVSS, etc.) as well as consumer protection requirements (NCAP, etc.) and customer-specific specifications to increase vehicle safety.

When it comes to passenger protection, SEGULA Technologies has extensive engineering know-how. This includes, for example, the development of maximally reliable electronics, the development of partial and total restraint systems in the area of frontal and side protection or the coordination of assemblies relevant to occupant protection such as airbags, vehicle structure and steering column.

All developments can be validated in-house using simulation and testing. Thus, restraint system developments (airbag, belts, etc.) and dynamic component tests are undertaken at the sled facility. Here we currently distinguish between more than 150 types of tests. In this way, we completely cover all load cases required in the vehicle development process, which are demanded by national and international legislators. In the OoP area (Out of Position), various airbag tests are carried out. In the component area, there are various facilities such as belt tension/pendulum test/catapult facilities for testing individual vehicle components (steering wheel, seats, lashing eyes, etc). Our in-house dummy calibration laboratory holds adult and child dummies for all required load cases.

We respond to your enquiry at short notice and in a solution-oriented manner! You too can benefit from the combination of our development expertise, our strong cost and quality awareness and our extensive testing facilities. Our safety area is TISAX-certified (Level AL3) to protect your prototypes.
