The global engineering group SEGULA Technologies has announced the appointment of José Ángel Martín Hernández as Executive Vice President of the global rail division, joining the company’s executive committee. Martín Hernández, who has been International Executive Director of the railway business line since 2017, has worked to drive the expansion of this area of the company into new markets, deploying teams dedicated to supporting major international programmes. This new position allows Martín Hernández to lead the global strategy for the railway sector, oversee international development and strengthen the group’s positioning with manufacturers, operators and authorities in the sector. In fact, his main objectives include strengthening technical and commercial capabilities in all countries in order to expand the project portfolio, especially in systems, signalling, maintenance and digital solutions, consolidating Spain as a centre of excellence in the sector and leading R&D initiatives that promote decarbonisation, automation and data-driven operations in the railway sector, offering competitive and exportable solutions.
An industrial engineer with an Executive MBA, José Ángel Martín Hernández has been working at SEGULA Technologies for over 20 years, where he began as director of the business unit in Zaragoza. He gradually took on responsibility for several centres in Spain (Barcelona, Pamplona, Valencia and Zaragoza), supporting their growth and development. From 2013 onwards, he structured the Group’s railway activity, strengthening its expertise in rolling stock and systems, and initiated the first developments with international clients.
“I am delighted with this new opportunity that the Group is offering me. Spain is a strategic location for the development of our railway activities due to the important combination of three key factors: the extent of the railway network, the high level of public investment and the highly qualified industrial ecosystem. Within the SEGULA Group, we have more than 1,200 professionals in Spain, which demonstrates not only a strong local presence, but also a solid platform on which to build ambitious growth in the railway sector. The Spanish market offers continuous opportunities in engineering, infrastructure modernisation, digitalisation and sustainable mobility solutions. Our vision is to take full advantage of this momentum to increase Spain’s contribution to the Group’s global railway activity and move towards more recurring and high-value service models,” says José Ángel Martín Hernández.
